Integrating Emotional Competence into Man-Machine Collaboration
نویسندگان
چکیده
Emotional competence plays a crucial role in human communication and hence should also be considered for improving cooperation between humans and robots. In this paper we present an architecture and its realization in the robot head MEXI, which is able to recognize emotions of its human counterpart and to react adequately in an emotional way by representing its own emotions in its facial expression and speech output. Furthermore, mechanisms for emotion and drive regulation are presented. Therefor MEXI maintains an internal state made up of (artificial) emotions and drives. This internal state is used to evaluate its perceptions and action alternatives and controls its behavior on the basis of this evaluation. This is a major difference between MEXI and usual goal based agents that rely on a world model to control and plan their actions.

Although society often thinks of creative individuals as working in isolation, intelligence and creativity result in large part from interaction and collaboration with other individuals. Much human creativity is social, arising from activities that take place in a context in which interaction with other people and the artifacts that ...
متن کاملUsing Machine Learning Techniques to Support Group Formation in an Online Collaborative Learning Environment
The current Learning Management Systems used in e-learning lack intelligent mechanisms which can be used by an instructor to group learners during an online group task based on the learners‟ collaboration competence level. In this paper, we discuss a novel approach for grouping students in an online learning group task based on individual learners‟ collaboration competence level. We demonstrate...

In order for a defense organization to gain understanding of their performance in complex tactical situations it is important to accurately model the way opposing and own forces operate. It is a significant challenge to develop such models due to the increasing interdependence between personnel and technology. To gain a clear insight in how personnel and technology (or a man-machine network) to...
متن کاملMan-machine Collaboration for Knowledge Acquisition
Both machine learning and knowledge elicitation from human experts have unique strengths and weaknesses. Man-machine collaboration for knowledge acquisition allows both knowledge acquisition techniques to be employed handin-hand. The strengths of each can alleviate the other’s weaknesses. This has the potential to both reduce the time taken to develop an expert system while increasing the quali...
